Taiwanese Hokkien (/??h??ki??n, h????ki????n/) (Chinese: ?????????; Pe??h-??e-j??: T??i-o??n-??e; T??i-l??: T??i-u??n-u??), also known as Taigi/Taigu (Chinese: ??????; Pe??h-??e-j??/T??i-l??: T??i-g?? / T??i-g??), Taiwanese, Taiwanese Minnan, Hoklo and Holo, is a variety of the Hokkien language spoken natively by about 70%+ of the population of Taiwan. It is spoken by a significant portion of Taiwanese people descended from immigrants of southern Fujian during the Qing dynasty. It is one of the national languages of Taiwan.
